Narendra Modi
Narendra Modi is the Chief Minister of the state of Gujarat, India. His full name is Narendra Damodardas Modi. He is now BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 Loksabha Election. L.K Advani selected him as the leader of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in 2001. Advani gave him a direction to the election campaign in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.  Modi was elected as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. He is the longest serving Chief Minister of Gujarat. In the 2012 Gujarat legislative assembly election Modi won his fourth constituency term. People admire him for his economic policies and growth scenario in Gujarat.
Education
Modi did his Master’s degree in Political Science. He was an average student.
Humble Beginnings 
Modi started his career as an errand runner for the RSS. He used to run a tea stall till the time RSS inducted him as a full-time member. After that Modi was given the charge of the ABVP (the student wing of RSS).
Early days in Politics
Narendra Modi joined politics in his early teens. He was a member of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). During the 1960's India-Pakistan war, Modi volunteered to serve soldiers traveling through railway stations. He became a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. After having worked full time with the Parishad, he was nominated as its representative in the BJP. Narendra Modi has come from a humble background. He is known for his simple lifestyle. He has tried to change his image from that of a Hindu Nationalist politician to that of a sincere administrator.  
In 1995, BJP came to power in Gujarat. Modi had a great role behind this victory. He was then  crowned with the post of the party's General Secretary. There after Modi moved to New Delhi to take up the new responsibility of managing the party's activities in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
First Stint as the Chief Minister of Gujarat
A lot of allegations regarding corruption and poor governance came out against the BJP government in Gujarat. Shankarsingh Vaghela left the BJP. Keshubhai Patel was made the new Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi became the General Secretary of the party in Delhi. After Bhuj Earthquake in 2001 Keshubhai Patel was removed and it prompted the BJP's national leaders to seek a new candidate as chief minister. In October 2001, Modi was made Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi became the longest-serving Chief Minister in Gujarat in July 2007. 
Narendra Modi won the constituency of Maninagar in the Gujarat legislative assembly elections of 2012. He won over the Indian National Congress. BJP won 115 out of the 182 seats and formed its government. This was Narendra Modi's fourth term as the Chief Minister. In March 2013, Mr. Modi was appointed as the member to the BJP Parliamentary Board which is the highest decision-making body of the party. He was also nominated as a member of BJP’s Central Election Committee.
